The Wedding................Gee Whiz!

So, we arrived in Oklahoma on the Friday night before the Saturday wedding.  Just after midnight, chuckle, the tornado sirens went off.  Storms and flooding and hail.  Springtime in Oklahoma.  The "farm wedding" was destroyed......the tent, the linens, the tables, everything..........blown into the next county.  The bride was DETERMINED it didn't matter, ha ha ha ha ha....................every man she asked to "fix it" told her............"Nope, can't".

Finally, just 11 hours before the wedding, a venue was found.  The "Little Red Barn", a metal building for community gatherings in my son's hometown.  It was rushed, it was hurried, but..............it worked. The wedding took place.

The "officiant" was a guy with a man-bun and a rainbow colored stole.  Pretty sure he was licensed by the internet.  In the middle of the ceremony, right before the vows, my son and his bride-to-be poured each other shots of tequila.  Oh, yeah, my uptight, Baptist upbringing made me cringe, I FELT my mouth purse and my asshole clench.  But, ha ha ha ha.............I RAISED him to BE who he IS.

I cried when the boys lined up before the bride came out.  The groom was my son.  The best man was my son.  The third bridesmaid was my daughter.  They are all tall and gorgeous and perfect.  Each and every one of them different from me and from one another.  Perfect, they are ABSOLUTELY perfectly themselves.  I dreamed and hoped and wished and prayed they would be.................it was granted unto me.  My job now is....................embrace them as they are grown.  I can do that.  Might take me a minute, but............HUGE SMILE...............if they are happy.............I am happy.  It's just that simple.

That is so wonderful! I am so glad it worked out. It was a bit dicey there for a while huh? Yes they are perfectly themselves. You did a great job raising them…

It WAS dicey. And they ARE perfectly THEM. Period. I will support that about them until I die. No, that does not mean I won’t offer an opinion, will think they are perfect, but…………….I love them, always have, always will. Good enough.

I’m thrilled it came off well, despite the potential disaster it could have been. I’m happy for you!

Thanks. I still don’t like my new daughter-in-law. I don’t like her. But, I love my son.

ha ha ha ha ha………….It wouldn’t have been blown away if she had listened to people who knew more than her, but…………shrug…………….she was too drunk to care most of the time.
